Today, we are going to discuss one of the most important questions for every student: Which stream should I choose after Class 10?

Many questions come to mind after board exams:

Choosing the right stream is crucial because it can shape your future career and opportunities. I will try to answer all these questions based on my experience and research.

I am a JEE aspirant, and like many of you, I had these questions in Class 10. My best friend chose commerce, but I wanted to become an army officer. While NDA allows any stream, the exam has a strong mathematics portion, so having PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) strengthened my preparation.

When I asked commerce students for math help, many skipped it saying it wasn’t their subject—even if they had math as optional!

Finally, on the day of my stream selection, I clarified my doubts by asking myself certain questions, which helped me confidently choose Science (PCM) with Computer Science.

In this guide, I will share those questions with you so that you can decide your stream confidently, start your preparation early, and excel in your academics.

1. Science Stream

For Aspiring Engineers, Doctors, and Scientists – The Science stream is perfect for students who enjoy Mathematics and Science. It opens doors to careers in medicine, engineering, research, and technology.

  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB): Good for students who want to become doctors, surgeons, pharmacists, or work in healthcare.

  • Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM): Ideal for engineers, computer scientists, data analysts, or physical science enthusiasts.

    Every stream requires consistent effort. Science (especially PCM) involves understanding concepts and practicing problems, whereas Commerce focuses more on theory and application.

  4. Do I want flexibility in future choices?
    Science keeps more options open: Engineering, Medical, NDA, Data Science, Computer Science, etc. Commerce is more specialized but also offers careers in business, finance, and government sectors.

  5. What subjects am I good at?
    Choose a stream that aligns with your strengths. If you struggle with math, Commerce may feel easier—but if you enjoy math, PCM can give you a huge advantage.

Why I Chose Science (PCM + CS)

  • NDA requires a good understanding of mathematics.

  • PCM strengthened my logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Computer Science adds an edge for modern career opportunities.

  • It keeps multiple doors open: JEE, NDA, engineering, and even data-related fields.

  • Research each stream thoroughly before deciding.
